Modern day acting originates from the Greeks who were the first to have theater or dramatic plays in world history. Many times, the actors and actresses on stage would use masks to show that they were a different character in the production. The word hypocrite is a word that we have brought into English that literally means an actor, like someone who puts on a mask and acts like someone else. In English, we use this word to describe people that say one thing and do the complete opposite.
